Kenneth Okonkwo Accuses Peter Obi of Betrayal, Calls Him Unfit for Presidency
Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has alleged that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), betrayed him.
Okonkwo stated that he publicly severed his ties with Obi in 2024 after determining that the NDC flagbearer lacks the decisiveness essential for leading Nigeria.
He made these remarks barely 24 hours after being appointed as the spokesman for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“As a public affairs analyst since 2009, long before I ever met Peter Obi, I continued with my duties. You were among the first interviewers who spoke with me in July 2024 when I declared I was no longer speaking for him because he is not decisive,” Okonkwo said.
“I have observed certain qualities in him that render him unfit to serve as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I made this view public. By that time, I had already concluded my work with him. To make it clear that I am no longer representing him, I announced my decision publicly, went my own way, and resumed my independent work.”
“He was the one who betrayed me,” Okonkwo added.
