Toke Makinwa Shares Key Marriage Advice for Women
Popular media personality Toke Makinwa has offered thoughtful guidance to women considering marriage, emphasizing how a man’s behaviour after a disagreement can reveal his true character.
According to Makinwa, a healthy relationship is not defined by the absence of conflict but by how partners respond once tempers cool. She argues that a man who lets arguments turn into prolonged silence or distance is not ready for the commitment of marriage.
Instead, she encourages women to look for a partner who reaches out after a quarrel, checks on his lover’s well‑being, and works calmly to resolve the issue. Such actions demonstrate understanding, empathy, and a willingness to communicate openly — qualities she believes outweigh ego when building a lasting union.
Makinwa also highlighted the importance of accountability. A man who can pause, admit when he is wrong, and say “I’m sorry” because the relationship matters more to him than his pride is, in her view, far better suited for marriage than one who avoids responsibility after a fight.
She summed up her advice with a poignant reminder: “Marry the man who calls you after an argument just to make sure you’re okay. Not the one who leaves you alone with your tears. Choose the man who stays when things get hard and wants to understand you, not defeat you. A man who can pause, hold you, and say ‘I’m sorry’ because your relationship matters more to him than his ego.”
