A woman has ignited online discussion after revealing she is weighing a marriage proposal from the son of a deputy governor in western Nigeria, even though she describes him as kind, responsible, and intelligent.
Concerns Over Religion and Cultural Differences
She explained that while the suitor possesses many admirable traits—being smart, handsome, and calm—she remains uneasy about three core issues. The first is religion: he is Muslim, she is Christian, and she has no intention of abandoning her faith. “He’s a Muslim, while I’m a Christian, and I intend to remain one. Changing my faith isn’t part of my plans at all. I love my Jesus Christ,” she said.
Her second worry revolves around language and cultural compatibility. She stressed the importance of being able to converse in her partner’s native tongue and hopes to raise her children speaking her own dialect.

Age Difference Raises Doubts
The third issue is the age gap. She noted that she is one year older than the deputy governor’s son, a scenario she never imagined for herself in marriage. She added that she has always pictured herself marrying an older man whom she could naturally view as the head of the household.

She concluded her post by asking social media users for their opinions, which elicited a mix of responses. Some encouraged her to follow her convictions, while others argued that love and compatibility outweigh differences in age, religion, or language.
