Mourinho Pushes for Midfield Overhaul at Real Madrid
Incoming Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has urged the club to consider offers for midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouaméni as he prepares a major rebuild at the Santiago Bernabéu.
According to reports, Mourinho believes the current midfield lacks the creative spark he desires and that space must be created for a more inventive presence.
Camavinga, aged 23, is among the players the Portuguese coach is prepared to let go. However, sources close to the France international insist a departure would be “impossible” for the young star.
Tchouaméni’s future is also uncertain, with interest reportedly emerging from Manchester United following a difficult season that included a dressing‑room dispute with Federico Valverde.
Mourinho has informed club officials that at least one midfielder must exit if Real Madrid are to sign the type of playmaker he feels the squad currently lacks.
His primary target is Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández, valued at around £120 million. The Argentina international is said to be open to a new challenge and would favour a move to Real Madrid if an agreement can be reached.
Ahead of his expected return to the Spanish capital, Mourinho praised Real Madrid as the biggest club in world football, placing them above long‑time rivals Barcelona.
He rejected the widespread view that Barcelona’s style sets them apart, noting that his 2011/12 Real Madrid side scored the most goals in Spanish football history with 121 goals and 100 points in a single season.
