The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Council in Taraba State has strongly opposed Governor Agbu Kefas’ reported defection to the ruling party. Describing the potential move as “unacceptable,” the youth wing declared it contradicts APC’s core values.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 30, 2025, youth leaders unanimously passed a vote of no confidence against Governor Kefas. They emphasized his political ideology conflicts with the APC’s progressive principles.
State Coordinator Bilyamin Musa stated: “We, the APC youths in Taraba, unanimously reject Governor Agbu Kefas’ entry into our party. He lacks progressive leadership qualities. The APC isn’t for his caliber.”
The council criticized Kefas’ governance record, alleging poor performance during his two-year tenure. They claim his administration has failed to deliver meaningful development to Taraba State.
“We urge national leaders to protect APC’s sanctity. The party must not become a refuge for failed leaders,” the statement emphasized.
The youth leaders reaffirmed loyalty to President Bola Tinubu’s administration. They vowed to mobilize support for APC’s growth in Taraba ahead of future elections.
This rejection contrasts with views from Governor Kefas’ adviser, David Kente. He previously argued that joining APC would accelerate Taraba’s development through federal partnerships.
Kente maintained the potential defection serves Taraba’s collective interest. He cited the need for better federal collaboration in education and infrastructure projects.
