Kwankwaso Accused of Buying All PRP Nomination Forms
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has raised alarm after alleging that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the vice‑presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), purchased every nomination form the party had made available for aspirants seeking various political offices in Kano.
Guza, a senior PRP official, said he had traveled to Kaduna for a party retreat and collected forms for his supporters who had already paid for them. Upon arrival, he was informed that the forms had already been bought.
When he pressed for details, the party’s national secretary told him that Kwankwaso was the buyer, explaining that the party was in talks with him about a possible defection.
Days passed without any sign of Kwankwaso joining the PRP, leading party leaders to conclude that the purchase was a deliberate move to undermine the party’s internal processes.
Legal Threats and Call for Surrender of Forms
The PRP warned that if Kwankwaso does not return the forms before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) closes the window for submitting contestants’ names, the party will pursue legal action against him.
Guza added that the problem is not isolated to the PRP; other political parties are reportedly experiencing similar difficulties with form acquisition.
The situation has left hundreds of aspirants in Kano uncertain about their political futures, as they await clarity on who legitimately holds the nomination forms.
