Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reacted to the alleged crisis rocking the marriage of actress Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwomo.
Reports had emerged that Regina Daniels’ brother cried out over the situation, accusing the senator of assault. Okorie took to her Instagram page to express deep concern over what many women face in silence, describing domestic abuse as unacceptable under any circumstance.
She urged women to speak up and refuse to stay in abusive relationships, stressing that marriage is not a prison and love should never cause pain.
She wrote on her Instagram page: “Getting to know what a lot of our women go through. I mean the physical abuse, the pain, the silence. Domestic violence is never justified. No man has the right to raise his hands on a woman. Not in anger, not in love, not in marriage NEVER ever! To every woman going through abuse, speak up! Your silence protects your abuser, not you. Marriage is not a prison. Love is not meant to hurt. I am calling on every woman, every voice, every platform, let’s speak louder against domestic violence.”
“Let’s protect our sisters, mothers, and anyone going through abuse in the hands of their partners. You are not alone. We demand protection. Every woman should be treated with dignity and respect. Enough is ENOUGH! #SayNoToDomesticViolence.”
Okorie’s post comes amidst growing concern over domestic violence and the need for victims to speak out and seek help.
