Atalanta coach Ivan Juric has expressed his confidence in Ademola Lookman’s ability to return to top form as the Nigerian forward returns to club action following international duty. The 27-year-old, who was recently named Africa’s Player of the Year, has experienced a challenging start to the new season, failing to score a goal or provide an assist for either club or country since his return last month.
However, recent weeks have shown a positive shift in the player’s performance. Juric has commended Lookman’s effort and mindset during training, though he acknowledges there is still room for improvement.
“I hope that he will return from international duty with the same attitude that I saw in the last two or three weeks that he worked with us, where I had no complaints,” Juric told Sport Mediaset. “It was a great attitude, really positive, and I want to make up for the time we lost over the summer. He is not yet at his best, but I hope to see the right spirit from him.”
Lookman is expected to feature in the starting lineup when Atalanta face Lazio in Serie A on Sunday. The competition for attacking roles has intensified, especially with the impressive performances of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana since his arrival in the summer.
