The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has expelled one of its members from the House of Representatives.
Lawmaker Uzokwe Peter was removed over allegations of anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
This decision was formalized on December 4, 2025.
It came during the party’s 24th Extra-Ordinary National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
The meeting concluded in Abuja, where a communiqué was issued.
The NEC is the party’s highest decision-making body.
It endorsed the expulsion, confirming an earlier decision.
The National Working Committee (NWC) had initially made that move.
Mr. Peter represents the Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.
Multiple petitions were received against him.
Verified video evidence also showed anti-party activities.
These actions constituted gross misconduct, leading to his expulsion.
The YPP stated these actions violated its constitution.
Specifically, Section 36(7), Article (b, f & o) was breached.
These details are found on pages 70 and 71 of the document.
The party reaffirmed its strict stance on such matters.
It maintains a “zero-tolerance policy” for actions that harm unity.
This includes acts undermining discipline and cohesion within the YPP.
Beyond the expulsion, the NEC addressed other party matters.
It approved the election of new national officers.
This filled existing vacancies within the party structure.
The move complies with Section 82(1), (2), and (3) of the Electoral Act, 2022.
Finally, the NEC passed a unanimous vote of confidence.
This was in favour of the National Chairman, Bishop Amakiri.
