Nigerian music star Yemi Alade has addressed persistent fan requests for a collaboration with fellow artist Tiwa Savage, firmly stating such a partnership remains unlikely. Despite her strong advocacy for female solidarity in the industry, Alade expressed concerns about potential controversies.
The “Johnny” singer emphasized her history of supporting women in music through collaborations. However, she specifically ruled out working with Tiwa Savage due to external pressures. Alade clarified that media and fan dynamics create unnecessary complications.
“The fan-favorite collaboration is Tiwa Savage. I’d rather stay clear; I don’t want problems in my life,” Alade stated. “There’s no issue between us. Fans and media often stir calm waters unnecessarily.”
This stance references their December 2018 social media clash. Tensions arose when Alade criticized artists who digitally enhanced their bodies online. Though unnamed, her comments followed Tiwa’s curvy Instagram posts.
Tiwa Savage responded cryptically with the caption: “Don’t start a war you can’t finish.” Despite this history, Alade maintains no current conflict exists. She simply prefers avoiding potential drama from public and media reactions.
The award-winning artist reaffirmed her position while stressing her continued support for female collaborations in Nigerian music. Her decision stems from preserving peace rather than personal animosity.
