Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has officially reconciled with veteran filmmaker Afeez Owo. This development follows their recent heated exchange on social media.
The dispute began after Afeez Owo made comments about Toriola. He suggested her film roles mirrored her real-life character. He also implied “violence is her comfort zone.”
Owo further clarified his remarks. He stated Wumi does not tolerate nonsense. She reacts when people push her too far.
Wumi Toriola responded on her Instagram page. She criticized Afeez’s interview. She called his comments “rubbish.” Toriola questioned why personal rifts were being discussed on podcasts.
She strongly rebuked Owo. She asked if others should also “rent a husband to hold the mic and spoil things.” She urged him, as an elder, to stop such public discussions.
Toriola questioned the trend of discussing conflicts on podcasts. She accused Owo of “talking rubbish” after being given a platform. She defended her reactions. She stated she only lashes out when genuinely offended. She affirmed her respect for him despite his “unfortunate behaviours.”
The Public Reconciliation
The reconciliation happened on Wednesday evening. It took place at the movie premiere of their colleague, actor Odunlade Adekola.
A video of the moment has since gone viral. Wumi approached Afeez at the event. She knelt down and apologized for her earlier comments.

She simply said, “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me.”
Afeez initially seemed to avoid her. However, he eventually lifted her from her knees. He then embraced her warmly, signaling the end of their dispute.
