Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike claims he foresaw the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ongoing crisis long before it erupted. He insists all his warnings about the party’s trajectory have now materialized.
During his monthly media briefing in Abuja, Wike warned that the PDP would continue losing ground unless fundamental issues are resolved. He described the recent wave of defections from the party as deeply embarrassing.
PDP’s Downward Spiral
“From day one, I warned that PDP would keep losing if current practices continued,” Wike stated. “Matters weren’t handled properly, and we’re now facing the consequences. It’s truly embarrassing.”
The minister specifically noted the irony of a PDP governor chairing the party’s convention committee amid the turmoil. “I knew they were playing games. Every single prediction I made about PDP has come true. Name one that hasn’t,” he challenged.
The Essence of Leadership
Wike defined leadership as making bold decisions regardless of opposition. He cited his intervention to halt police construction beneath high-tension cables in Abuja as proof of decisive governance.
“Heaven didn’t fall when I took that decision. It actually brought stability,” he remarked. “Leadership means acting during challenges. As FCT Minister, I’ll unapologetically make tough choices to position Abuja among world-class cities.”
The minister stressed that true leadership requires political will without compromises. “My responsibility demands decisive action, irrespective of who’s involved,” he concluded.
