Nollywood actress Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo 1, has stated that she prefers being a co-wife in a polygamous marriage over being a man’s secret lover.
She shared this view during a recent podcast with her colleague, Bimbo Akintola, emphasizing that relationships should be guided by honesty and fairness.
Lolo 1 argued that it is better for a man to openly have multiple wives than to cheat behind a spouse’s back. In a polygamous setup, co-wives share equal treatment and turn, creating a transparent environment that avoids hidden betrayals.
“I would rather a man be polygamous than for him to be married and have a side-chick. That’s the one I would not contend with,” the actress said.
Meanwhile, veteran actress Bimbo Akintola offered a different perspective on the rise of secret lovers in Nigeria. She traced the trend back to men marrying women considered “wife material” rather than the women they genuinely loved.
According to her, this mismatch led men to pursue the women they truly desired outside marriage, giving rise to the culture of secret affairs.
Her comments come a few months after she found love again. In a post, the media personality expressed affection for her partner, Lawrence, and shared pictures of the two looking happy together.
