Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly involved. He is playing a central role in Galatasaray’s renewed efforts. The Turkish club wants to sign his countryman, Ademola Lookman. This potential move could happen in January.
Turkish football analyst Levent Tüzemen made this claim. He spoke on the A Spor YouTube channel. Tüzemen discussed Galatasaray’s transfer plans.
Galatasaray has shown interest in Lookman for months. Their pursuit has intensified. This is happening as the winter transfer window approaches. The club views the Atalanta forward as a key addition. He could significantly improve their attacking options. This would benefit them for the rest of the season.
Lookman pushed for a transfer last summer. However, Atalanta refused to let him go. The situation became tense. The Nigerian forward even went on strike. He was later brought back into the team. Lookman has since continued to play for the Serie A side.
Tüzemen explained Osimhen’s involvement. This has made the pursuit much more serious. The Napoli striker personally encouraged Lookman. He advised him to consider a move to Turkey.
“Galatasaray shows serious interest in Lookman,” Tüzemen stated. He added, “Osimhen is the biggest supporter for this transfer. Victor Osimhen has convinced Lookman to come to Galatasaray.”
Tüzemen highlighted the main challenge. “Galatasaray needs to convince Atalanta,” he said. “If Galatasaray secures Lookman, it would make a significant difference.” However, Atalanta’s asking price is substantial. “€40-50 million is being discussed,” Tüzemen concluded.
