Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has clarified that recent viral reports about him suffering heartbreak due to a relationship with a young female student were completely misinterpreted. He emphasized that his original statement was intended as an inspirational message and not a confession of any personal experience.
Clarifying the Misinterpretation
Odule explained that the notion of his heart being broken was a misrepresentation. He stated, “Nobody broke my heart; nobody can break my heart. I can only get disappointed. That disappointment can come from anyone—a friend, family member, or even my child. But heartbreak, no.”
He further addressed the specific claim involving a 200-level student, dismissing it as laughable. “Someone even said it was a 200-level student. I laughed. My first daughter is a lecturer with a PhD; how can a 200-level student break my heart? That would be silly. If I were ever to be involved with a 200-level student, she would just be a passing fancy; nothing serious,” he stated.
On Social Media and Integrity
Odule also commented on the nature of social media, noting that people often use platforms to twist words for attention and engagement. “People now use social media for clout and money, even at the expense of integrity. At a time, people claimed I had 10 children with 10 women. I simply agreed; after all, it’s not a crime in Nigeria. If it’s a sin, I’ll face it when I get to heaven,” he said.
Focus on Acting Career
When asked about his approach to his acting career, Odule shared that he does not select roles based on preference. Instead, he focuses on delivering his best performance in any role assigned to him. “I don’t choose roles; they are chosen for me. My duty as an actor is to interpret whatever role I’m given. That’s the essence of acting,” he explained.
