Umar Jada, a prominent ally of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Jada was a chieftain of the party in Adamawa State. His resignation took immediate effect.
He formally tendered his resignation on December 1, 2025. The letter became public to journalists on Tuesday in Yola.
Jada previously served as the ADC’s assistant national publicity secretary. He also held the role of zonal publicity secretary.
Explaining his decision, Jada stated it was a “painful decision.” He intends “to refocus my attention on other critical life commitments.”
He clarified his choice was “purely on personal grounds.” This followed careful reflection on his current responsibilities.
“Stepping down is a difficult but necessary choice,” Jada added. It allows him “to attend to pressing personal matters” requiring his “full attention.”
Jada expressed profound gratitude for the trust and support he received. He stated, “I remain deeply grateful for the trust and support.”
He noted his honour in contributing to the party’s growth. He also helped enhance its visibility and strength.
“I cherish the experiences, the teamwork, and the ideals,” he affirmed. These were upheld “in our pursuit of a better and more democratic Nigeria.”
Jada assured the party of his continued respect. He pledged his “unwavering goodwill towards the ADC.”
He remains committed to supporting the party’s values. He will do so “in whatever way my circumstances may allow in the future.”
