Bayern Munich will be without star forward Luis Díaz for a significant period. UEFA has confirmed a three-match suspension for the Colombian international.
This sanction follows Díaz’s red card during Bayern’s 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the month.
UEFA cited “serious rough play” as the reason for the disciplinary action. The incident involved a challenge on Achraf Hakimi in first-half stoppage time. Hakimi sustained a badly sprained left ankle and has been out of action since.

Díaz had a strong start to that match. He scored two goals, giving Bayern an early advantage at the Parc des Princes. However, his dismissal dramatically altered the game’s dynamic. Bayern must now navigate crucial fixtures without him.
He will miss crucial games. These include matches against Arsenal on Wednesday, Sporting CP on December 9, and Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21.
Bayern leads their Champions League group with a perfect record of four wins. Still, the news surprised many. It contrasts with earlier statements from manager Vincent Kompany. On Friday, Kompany had indicated he expected a much shorter ban.
“My information suggests he’s suspended for one game,” Kompany stated. He added, smiling, “I’d be truly disappointed if my information proved incorrect.” Sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed receiving similar information.
Kompany also redirected attention to domestic league duties. He emphasized Bayern’s immediate focus on upcoming Bundesliga matches before the trip to London.
“There is no plan for load management for Díaz,” Kompany affirmed. “He must contribute with his energy. The Arsenal game holds less immediate influence. Our players will approach the Freiburg match with full energy. We aim to win that game. We are not yet focused on Arsenal.”
