Olusegun Dada, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on social media, has dismissed PDP National Chairman Kabiru Turaki’s appeal to former US President Donald Trump for intervention in the party’s crisis as “premium fooling”. The criticism follows Turaki’s remarks during a factional gathering at PDP’s Wadata Plaza headquarters.
Turaki had claimed Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike mobilized armed thugs with police backing to disrupt party activities. He then made an international appeal stating: “Democracy is under threat in Nigeria. I call on President Trump and advanced democracies to save us”.
“I want to call on President Trump; what is at stake is not just genocide against Christians. He should come and save democracy in Nigeria. I am calling all other developed nations to save Nigeria.”
Responding via social media platform X, Dada criticized the PDP’s tendency to blame President Tinubu during internal disputes. He emphasized the President’s focus on national priorities rather than opposition party conflicts.
“It’s unfortunate PDP blames PBAT whenever they can’t resolve internal issues. This is irresponsible for a 27-year-old party. The President handles crucial national matters. Why should he mediate PDP’s endless feuds among 18 registered parties? Asking Trump to intervene is premium fooling.”
Dada further questioned why the PDP expects presidential intervention in their disputes, noting Nigeria’s multiparty system. His comments highlight ongoing tensions within Nigeria’s main opposition party.
