Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori, known professionally as TG Omori, has raised alarm over death threats he’s receiving. This follows his public stance against same-sex relationships.
Omori ignited controversy after stating, “Having same gender sex is evil” on social media. His declaration quickly went viral and drew strong reactions from online users.
The situation intensified when Zikoko Magazine published an article about the incident. They accused Omori of exploiting the controversy to promote his eyewear brand.
According to Omori, this publication worsened tensions and exposed him to danger. He reports receiving continuous death threats since the article appeared.
The director expressed feeling unsafe and criticized the media outlet. He claims they misrepresented his position to a global audience.
This is a media house trying to set me up and risk my life by gaslighting a global community they serve to blacklist me for speaking my truth in accordance to the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria. Death threats and wishes have been sent to me day and night, threatening my safety and security as a citizen, since after this article was published by @Zikoko_Mag.
Omori maintains he was exercising his right to express views aligned with Nigerian law. He continues to appeal for safety amid ongoing threats.
