Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has officially confirmed his intention to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This significant political move is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19.
Governor Kefas made this revelation over the past weekend. He was inspecting ongoing renovation works at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo. This stadium is the designated venue for the formal defection rally.
Speaking with journalists, the governor explained his decision. He stated it was guided by a strong desire to secure Taraba State’s long-term interests. “I will officially transition from the PDP to the APC on November 19,” Kefas affirmed.
He further elaborated, “This movement is about the destiny and future of the people of Taraba.” The governor also noted that arrangements were already in progress to welcome various dignitaries expected at the event. When questioned about any conditions attached to his switch, Governor Kefas clarified that there were none.
Cabinet Endorses Governor’s Move
Members of the Taraba State Executive Council have openly endorsed the governor’s decision. They expressed full support for his planned move from the PDP.
Muslim Aruwa, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, spoke on behalf of the cabinet. He assured that all political appointees would follow Governor Kefas to his new party. “The governor is our leader,” Aruwa declared. “Wherever he goes, we go with him.”
Aruwa further added that aligning with the federal government is critical. This alignment, he stated, would ensure accelerated development for Taraba State. “This movement is for the entire people of Taraba State, and we are with him 100 per cent,” he concluded.
