Aminu Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State, has distanced himself from alleged northern plots. These plots reportedly aim to force President Bola Tinubu out of office. Tambuwal stated he is not part of such conspiracies. However, he remains committed to removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power. He targets democratic means in 2027.
Tambuwal made these statements during a Channels Television appearance. He also discussed his recent encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He believes this encounter was politically motivated.
“I am fully involved in a process,” Tambuwal declared. “It aims to democratically and lawfully remove this government from office.” He added, “By the grace of God.”
“With the help of God and Nigerians, we will chase this government out of power,” Tambuwal asserted during the interview.
The former governor is now a key opposition figure. He claimed the ruling party is uneasy with his activities. They are also concerned by his growing influence.
When questioned about his ongoing EFCC case, Tambuwal spoke plainly. He clearly suggested political motives were behind it.
Asked directly if the trial was politically induced, he simply replied, “Yes.”
Pressed further about who might be behind this pressure, he stated, “Those who are concerned are worried about my activities.”
Tambuwal addressed reports of northern leaders plotting against the Tinubu administration. He clarified he is not part of any sectional conspiracy.
“I am not among some people in the North,” he said. “They are coming together to say that Tinubu must go.”
He did, however, admit to widespread dissatisfaction. This unhappiness is directed at the current administration.
“It is true that Nigerians are not happy,” he noted.
Tambuwal stated his focus is on building a national coalition. This coalition aims for a change in leadership. He stressed that any such transition must follow constitutional and democratic channels.
“I am involved in the national coalition,” he added. “It advocates for a change of guard in Aso Rock. This must happen through a constitutional democratic process on May 29.”
