Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has emphasized his team’s sharp focus as Nigeria prepares to face Benin Republic in Friday’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Lomé.
The crucial first-leg match at Stade de Kegue kicks off the final qualifying round for the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco. The return fixture follows next Tuesday at Abeokuta’s Moshood Abiola Sports Arena.
Despite Nigeria’s status as nine-time African champions and overwhelming favorites, Madugu insists his squad isn’t underestimating their opponents. The coach expressed strong confidence in his players’ readiness.
“We have a team that will make Nigerians proud,” Madugu stated. “Jennifer Echegini’s absence is unfortunate, but we wish her speedy recovery.”
He added: “Our strategy is clear. We’ll play our game and secure crucial goals for the return leg advantage.”
The Super Falcons completed final training sessions in Abuja before Wednesday’s departure to Lomé. Madugu plans to deploy a balanced lineup mixing veteran stars with emerging talents.
