Calm has returned to Nigeria’s national team camp after the Super Eagles resolved a dispute over unpaid allowances. The players have ended their training boycott and resumed preparations for their crucial 2026 World Cup playoff match against Gabon.
Official Confirmation of Resolution
Team media officer Promise Efoghe confirmed the resolution on Wednesday, November 12. “Issues resolved. Super Eagles to train at 5pm,” Efoghe stated. This announcement came after players protested unpaid bonuses.
Hotel Controversy Addressed
Midfielder Alex Iwobi sparked controversy by sharing footage of a poor view from his hotel window. The viral video drew criticism from supporters who accused the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of substandard arrangements.
Efoghe clarified the team was staying at Rive Hotel in Rabat. “What trended showed an old building visible from a window,” he explained. The hotel was selected for its proximity to training facilities and match stadium.
Training Resumes Ahead of Decisive Match
With disputes settled, the team returned to training at 5 p.m. Nigerian time on Wednesday. They are fine-tuning tactics before facing Gabon in the World Cup playoff. The decisive match kicks off at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 13.
