Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop has demanded the arrest of actress Peggy Ovire over alleged assault charges against fellow actor Taye Arimoro. The call for action follows CCTV footage that emerged after Ovire denied involvement, claiming Arimoro assaulted her driver.
Ontop took to Instagram to demand police intervention. Tagging the Nigeria Police Force, he declared: “No actor should be bullied.” His post detailed the alleged incident during a late-night film shoot.
According to Ontop, Arimoro refused to work beyond midnight as his contract had expired. Instead of negotiations, Ovire reportedly assaulted him. She then allegedly instructed her driver to attack Arimoro, causing serious injuries.
The CCTV footage appears to show Ovire and her crew surrounding Arimoro’s vehicle. Ontop urged the Lagos State Police Command to act swiftly. He insists Ovire belongs in custody for assault.
This incident highlights ongoing tensions in Nollywood productions. It raises concerns about working conditions and contract enforcement. The police have yet to publicly respond to Ontop’s demands.
