Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore expressed worry. This follows claims that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was secretly moved. He went to Sokoto prison after his life sentence. Kanu was sentenced on Thursday. New reports state his quiet transfer from Abuja occurred today. Sowore voiced his strong disapproval on X, formerly Twitter.

Sowore Addresses Kanu’s Alleged Secret Relocation
In his post, Omoyele Sowore claimed the Federal Government relocated Nnamdi Kanu. They moved him to a northern prison. He fears for Kanu’s safety there. This move, he argued, was planned before the judgment.
Sowore stated, ‘They planned this already.’ He added, ‘Their goal is to move Nnamdi Kanu to a dangerous northern prison.’ He believes Kanu’s safety there is at risk. ‘It is now confirmed,’ Sowore asserted, ‘they moved him to Sokoto prison today.’
Officials reportedly refused to keep Kanu in Abuja’s Kuje correctional centre. Omoyele Sowore claimed they cited fears. They worried Igbo people and supporters would overwhelm the facility. It could become ‘a place of pilgrimage,’ they believed.
Claims of Political Agendas
The activist also accused the government of giving false hope. This aimed to pacify the public. He said this strategy intends to ‘keep hopes alive.’ This lasts ‘just long enough for him to die in custody.’
Omoyele Sowore also criticized politicians from Kanu’s region. He stated they fear Kanu’s influence. They prefer his silence. This, he argued, explained their efforts. They allegedly hindered the #FreeNnamdiKanuNOW protest.
Sowore declared, ‘I have said it without fear: Nnamdi Kanu’s greatest foes are politicians from his own region.’ He elaborated, ‘They fear his influence. They also fear his connection to the populace.’ ‘They want him silenced permanently,’ he stressed. ‘This explains why they strenuously opposed our #FreeNnamdiKanuNOW protest.’
Sowore’s Cautionary Message
Omoyele Sowore concluded by urging Nigerians to heed his warnings. He emphasized not to disregard concerns. These relate to Kanu’s treatment. They also involve the political interests in the situation.
