Sophia Momodu, the mother of Nigerian music star Davido’s first daughter, Imade, has addressed recent allegations.
Controversy arose after Imade was absent from a family wedding. Davido’s second daughter, Hailey, was present at the event. This quickly sparked varied reactions on social media platforms.
Many netizens criticized Sophia. They accused her of preventing Imade from associating with her paternal family.
In response, Sophia released a statement via Instagram on Wednesday. She expressed dismay at waking up to attacks. These were directed at both her and her daughter after the wedding.
Momodu firmly stated that Imade is a healthy and joyful child. She added that anyone who has met her can confirm this.
She clarified her role in Imade’s upbringing. Sophia revealed she has been her daughter’s primary caregiver for the past five years. During this time, she has covered all of Imade’s expenses.
The only exception, she noted, has been Imade’s school fees. These fees have been graciously paid by Imade’s paternal grandparents for the last three years.
Significantly, Sophia claimed that Davido has not provided any child support for their daughter. Despite this, she emphasized that Imade lacks nothing. She ensures her daughter enjoys a comfortable and well-provided life.
Momodu also highlighted her continuous efforts to foster a positive relationship between Imade and her father. She stated unequivocally that she has never denied Davido access to their child.
However, Sophia underscored her commitment to Imade’s safety and structured schedule. She ensures any meetings with Davido are arranged with these priorities in mind.
