Nollywood actress Sonia Ogala has publicly challenged the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police over their statement regarding the detention of Sammy West, brother of actress Regina Daniels.
The FCT Police previously stated Sammy was granted bail but remained detained pending completion of bail formalities. Ogala strongly refuted this account. She insisted no actual bail was granted to Regina Daniels’ brother.
Ogala described concerning courtroom procedures. She claimed Sammy was taken early to Dutse Magistrate Court without his family’s knowledge. His relatives and lawyer remained at the police station unaware.
During proceedings, a court-appointed lawyer represented Sammy. He reportedly requested his own counsel. His biological father, a trained lawyer, had traveled from Lagos specifically for the case.
When family members reached the court, Ogala stated Sammy had been moved. She alleged the magistrate “disappeared” and charges were “locked.” The actress accused police of factual misrepresentation.
The situation reportedly caused severe family distress. Ogala shared that Rita Daniels, Regina and Sammy’s mother, collapsed. Regina Daniels allegedly locked herself in a room, threatening self-harm.
Ogala demanded police transparency. She questioned the grounds for Sammy’s arrest. Her statement referenced Sammy defending Regina during an alleged domestic incident involving her husband Ned Nwoko.
