Nigerian skitmaker Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, widely known as Shank Comics, has responded to public outcry. This follows the resurfacing of an old social media post. In the post, he appeared to commend American rapper Diddy’s “mindset.” This immediately sparked significant backlash online.
Amid the growing controversy, Shank clarified his position. He made a statement via his 𝕏 handle. He firmly stated that he does not support Diddy in any capacity. Shank described his earlier social media update as a “misguided attempt” to reference a villain from a movie.
The popular skitmaker acknowledged that the post was irresponsible. He clarified that he neither admires, defends, nor supports Diddy. This is especially true given the serious allegations currently facing the American music mogul.
Shank further emphasized that the accusations against Diddy are horrific. He believes that anyone found guilty of such behaviour deserves every consequence. He shared his full statement on 𝕏.
“To clarify any misunderstanding,” Shank began. “My post about Diddy was a misguided attempt at referencing a villain in a ‘movie’.” He admitted, “it was irresponsible.” He then added, “To be absolutely clear, I do not admire, support, or defend him in any way.”
“The allegations against him are horrific,” Shank continued. “He deserves every consequence that comes from them.” He labeled Diddy’s alleged actions as “unacceptable.” Such behaviour, he stressed, “has no place in our industry or anywhere else.” Shank concluded, “Victims deserve justice. I’m committed to doing better and using my platform responsibly.”
