Former Nigerian lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has issued a strong caution to citizens affected by recent US visa cancellations under the Trump administration.
Shehu Sani Advises Immediate Departure
Through a social media post on platform X, Sani urged impacted Nigerians and other Africans to leave America promptly. He warned they might face apprehension by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Overseas Residence Remains Temporary
Sani emphasized that regardless of comfort levels abroad, migrants maintain guest status in foreign nations. He noted extended stays don’t guarantee permanent belonging.
“Nigerians and thousands of Africans with recently revoked visas must hasten their departure,” Sani stated. “Return home before ICE detention occurs. Long-term residence abroad doesn’t eliminate one’s visitor status.”
US Policy Shifts Alarm African Communities
This warning follows reports of tightened US immigration enforcement. The Trump administration has initiated widespread visa cancellations and residency permit reviews.
These measures have generated significant anxiety among African immigrants. Many now question their legal standing within the United States.
