Afrobeats singer Shallipopi has openly challenged popular critic Daniel Regha. This follows Regha’s strong criticism of Shallipopi’s latest album, “Auracle.”
Regha had suggested the project would have been better released as a shorter EP. He acknowledged one song, “Pull Up,” featuring Pa Salieu, had a strong flow. However, he gave the album a very low overall rating.
Daniel Regha’s Scathing Review
Regha stated that Shallipopi cannot be considered a true artiste. He described him as “someone who has access to a studio.” The critic did credit Shallipopi for putting his state on the map. He called “Auracle” a “painful listen.”
Regha found no lyrical evolvement, substance, or creativity in the album. He noted that tracks progressively worsened after some good beats. He advised Shallipopi to pick four or five tracks and release them as an EP instead.
Regha predicted the project would sell due to current music tastes. Yet, he argued it would not improve anyone’s IQ or be a cultural reset. Despite his harsh assessment, he praised “Pull Up” (lyrics aside) for its good flow. He credited Pa Salieu for bringing the track to life. He concluded with a 1/10 rating, adding “No offense.”
Shallipopi Responds Swiftly
Shallipopi quickly reacted to the critique. He wrote directly: “You know nothing about music.”
