Adewale Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), recently commented on the violent standoff at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters. He asserted that the Tuesday incident, involving rival factions, came as no surprise to him.
Speaking on Arise Television on Wednesday, Adebayo strongly criticized the PDP. He highlighted what he called the party’s “lawless” conduct when they held power.
Adebayo also expressed his disapproval of the police officers’ actions during the chaos.
Why The PDP Crisis Was Expected
“Nobody is surprised by the catastrophe that occurred at the PDP headquarters yesterday,” Adebayo stated. He elaborated on his view of the party’s history.
“When the PDP was in government, it was a very lawless party,” he claimed. “They engaged in rigging and manipulation. Now that they are out of government, they are turning on each other.”
Concerns Over Police Involvement
Adebayo further raised concerns regarding the police’s involvement. “What truly bothers me is the role played by the police,” he said.
He reminded viewers that the police serve all citizens, unlike the PDP, which belongs only to its members. “I am worried if the police are being used to support either side,” Adebayo concluded.
