The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled its former National Chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, and National Youth Leader, Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu. This follows allegations of financial irregularities, misconduct, and abuse of office. The party’s decision deepens its ongoing internal crisis.
National Publicity Secretary Rufus Aiyenigba confirmed the expulsions. He stated the actions were necessary to restore discipline and integrity within the party. Aiyenigba emphasized the party’s commitment to upholding its constitution.
The disciplined members were initially suspended on June 24, 2025. An independent Disciplinary Committee investigated the allegations starting July 4, 2025. After a two-week probe, the committee submitted its report on July 18. The National Working Committee reviewed and adopted the findings on August 15.
