He affirmed that a sincere effort for Kanu’s freedom is needed. It must start by halting Biafra radio transmissions. The sit-at-home order in the South-East must also cease.
Political Resolution Deemed Essential for Kanu’s Freedom
The spiritual leader stressed Kanu’s accountability. He remains charged with terrorism offenses. Such allegations typically incur capital punishment by law.
Kanu’s continued existence is by grace, he clarified. His release demands a political settlement. Legal battles alone cannot achieve it.
“Anyone charged with such acts faces a death sentence,” he stated. “Kanu survived only through grace. His release now requires political intervention.”
Maharaj Ji emphasized a need for tangible actions. Those seeking Kanu’s clemency must participate actively.
“They cannot approach this with empty hands,” he warned. “Biafra radio must cease its broadcasts immediately.”
Increased Advocacy for a Political Resolution
The spiritual leader adds his voice to prominent figures. These include Abia State governor Alex Otti. Activist Omoyele Sowore also supports a political resolution. All advocate for an end to this protracted legal matter.
He urged South-East residents to maintain optimism. Efforts for Kanu’s freedom are actively progressing, he assured them.
Governor Otti previously visited Kanu in Sokoto prison. He then met President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. They explored avenues for Kanu’s release.
