Nigerian skit maker Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, widely known as Sabinus or Mr Funny, has confirmed his marriage recently ended. He addressed ongoing rumours about his marital status.
In 2024, his marriage became a major talking point. Reports of marital issues spread widely. Sabinus faced accusations of domestic violence, cheating, and being an absentee father. He shares a daughter with his wife, Ciana.
During a TikTok live stream with colleague Carter Efe, Sabinus clarified the situation. He stated directly, “I’m not married.” He emphasised that his marriage concluded peacefully.
The popular comedian added that he and his daughter’s mother remain on good terms. He further stated, “My daughter is okay, and she is doing fine.”
Sabinus’s Career Path and Father’s Initial Reaction
Sabinus also recently shared insights into his career journey. He revealed his father was initially furious about his choice to become a comedian.
In an interview with media personality VJ Adams, Sabinus explained his father’s ambition. His father wanted him to become a lawyer. Sabinus eventually studied Linguistics and Communication Studies after failing to secure law school admission.
He discovered his comedic talent while studying. This happened at the University of Port Harcourt. He then began creating skits.
The comedian recounted his father’s reaction. Upon learning he was a skit maker, his dad regretted funding his education. He described the profession as a “stupid business.”
Sabinus added that his father eventually offered his blessing. This change occurred after he started sending money from his comedy earnings.
