Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed a significant boost for his squad. Star forward Kylian Mbappe is now fully fit. He will be available for Sunday’s crucial La Liga trip to Alaves. This news offers a timely lift for the Spanish giants. They are determined to halt a worrying slide in their form.
Mbappe had to miss Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League defeat. Real Madrid lost to Manchester City. This result deepened Madrid’s troubles. The team now boasts just two wins from their last eight matches. This poor run spans all competitions. The downturn has also intensified pressure on Alonso. His future is currently under growing scrutiny.
“Kylian is back,” Alonso told reporters on Saturday. “He is ready to play. We will see and decide tomorrow if he starts. This is obviously good news.”
Real Madrid travels to Vitoria with stretched resources. Key players remain sidelined through injury. These include Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Carvajal, and Eduardo Camavinga. Additionally, Fran Garcia, Alvaro Carreras, and Endrick are all suspended. However, there is some positive news for the defence. Defender Dean Huijsen is expected to return. This fixture could prove pivotal for the coach’s tenure.
“Despite our missing players, we still have a strong enough squad,” Alonso added. “Our team is very capable.”
Real Madrid currently sits four points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona. This gap reflects a season that has drifted off course. The past few weeks have been challenging. Yet, Alonso believes this adversity can still strengthen his side. He suggests they could become more resilient if results begin to turn around.
“We are facing difficulties,” the coach stated. “But we can grow from them. If we overcome these tough times, and change our dynamic, we will look back. We will see how much we went through. It will have made us stronger.”
