Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor announced his political shift during the APC’s 14th National Caucus meeting held at Abuja’s State House Conference Centre.
An APC official declared that Mutfwang’s move signifies the APC now holds governance across Nigeria’s entire North Central geopolitical zone.
High-Profile Attendance at APC Meeting
President Bola Tinubu arrived at the meeting around 7:41 PM accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima. They were joined by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum) and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma (Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum).
Other prominent attendees included:
- Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila
- Senate President Godswill Akpabio
- House of Representatives Speaker Abbas Tajudeen
- APC governors and National Working Committee members
- Principal officers of the National Assembly
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also attended alongside recently-defected PDP governors including Bayelsa’s Douye Diri, Enugu’s Peter Mbah, Rivers’ Siminalayi Fubara, Akwa Ibom’s Umo Eno, Delta’s Sheriff Oborevwori, and Taraba’s Kefas Agbu.
