Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has publicly distanced himself from the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to expel key members including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The governor clarified that neither the PDP Governors’ Forum nor the National Executive Committee (NEC) discussed the expulsions beforehand.
Mutfwang’s position was communicated through a Saturday statement by his spokesperson Gyang Bere. The governor specifically denied involvement in expelling Wike, former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, and Senator Samuel Anyanwu from the party ranks.
Rather than expulsion, the Plateau governor recommended dialogue to address the PDP’s internal challenges. He emphasized the urgent need for unity and collaborative efforts to rebuild the party’s strength.
The controversial expulsions occurred during the PDP National Convention at Ibadan’s Lekan Salami Stadium. Former PDP National Vice Chairman Olabode George initiated the motion against the three prominent members. Bauchi State PDP Chairman Samaila Buga immediately seconded the motion.
