Plateau State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Rufus Bature, has clarified the party’s stance on Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s potential defection. Bature explained that Governor Mutfwang must follow the party’s established process before he can be admitted into the APC.
Speaking with Daily Trust, Bature stated that the governor is not yet an APC member. He emphasized that like any other defector, Mutfwang must adhere to proper party channels. The chairman also highlighted that clear intentions are crucial before the party considers any decision regarding his entry.
APC’s Demands for Governor Mutfwang
Bature outlined specific steps Governor Mutfwang needs to take. “The governor should follow the proper channel,” he advised. “He must consult with the party’s leaders first. We have national leaders he should meet with them.”
The chairman stressed the importance of negotiation. “There must be negotiations, a give-and-take approach, for us to accept him,” Bature added. “He needs to come in the proper way. That is our core message.”
Bature reiterated that politics thrives on dialogue. “Politics is about dialogue and negotiations,” he stated. “If the terms and conditions are favourable for the party, they will accept him.”
He further explained the current situation. “If we do not understand his intentions for joining the party, issues will arise. This is why various groups are speaking from different quarters. Some support, while others oppose his defection to the APC.”
