Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has denied giving any interview against the African Democratic Congress (ADC) opposition coalition.
Previous reports suggested Obi criticized the ADC. They claimed he stated the party struggled with zoning and key political office rotation.
These reports alleged Obi made the remarks. The source was a Wednesday YouTube interview by ‘Advocacy for Good Governance’.
However, Obi strongly refuted these claims. His Spokesman, Ibrahim Umar, released a statement on Friday. It clarified that the interview claims were false and malicious.
Umar stated, “The Peter Obi Media Office (POMO) must once again address circulating falsehoods. These malicious claims concern an alleged interview by Mr Peter Obi.”
“We categorically deny any news implying he gave such an interview. He did not make remarks against the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
“Peter Obi has consistently shown significant confidence in the ADC. He respects the leadership of former Senate President David Mark. The claims of him speaking ‘against’ the ADC contradict his documented actions. They also conflict with his public statements. Obi always emphasizes cooperation and partnership. He works with any group aiming to strengthen our democracy. His goal is to create the Nigeria of our dreams.”
Umar added that Peter Obi’s recent activities promote unity. They focus on tackling poor governance and economic hardship. He is not attacking or criticizing the ADC.
“We urge the public to disregard these publications,” Umar concluded. “The ADC leadership, in particular, should see them as fake news. They are the work of political hirelings. Their goal is to distort facts. They seek to distract the opposition from ending bad governance.”
