Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has denied making any negative statements against the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Earlier reports suggested Obi criticized the ADC. These reports claimed he spoke about unresolved issues. These included zoning and the rotation of key political offices within the coalition.
The purported remarks reportedly came from a Wednesday interview. It was published on YouTube by ‘Advocacy for Good Governance’.
However, Obi’s Spokesman, Ibrahim Umar, issued a statement on Friday. He called the claims contained in the alleged interview “false and malicious.”
Umar stated, “The Peter Obi Media Office (POMO) must once again refute false and malicious claims. These claims circulate about an interview supposedly granted by Mr Peter Obi.”
He added, “We categorically deny any news. It suggests he granted such an interview. Or that he made remarks against the Action Democratic Congress (ADC).”
Umar emphasized Obi’s confidence in the ADC. He highlighted its leadership under former Senate President David Mark. “The narrative claiming he made statements ‘against’ the ADC is false,” Umar noted. “It contradicts his documented actions. His public statements emphasize cooperation. They focus on partnership with groups. These groups aim to strengthen our democracy. They also seek to create the Nigeria of our dreams.”
Obi’s recent engagements consistently underscore unity. They address poor governance and economic hardship. They do not involve attacking or criticizing the ADC.
Umar urged the public and ADC leadership. He asked them to view these publications as fake news. He described them as “the work of political hirelings.” These individuals intend to distort facts. They also seek to distract the opposition. Their goal is to prevent the end of bad governance.
