PDP’s Commitment to Democratic Safeguards
“I assure you we’ll be open to all options,” Turaki declared. “Provided they strengthen Nigerian democracy and gain public acceptance. Our priority is rescuing Nigerians from current challenges.”
The former minister dismissed fears of Nigeria becoming a one-party state. However, he issued a stark warning about democracy being under threat. Turaki pledged collaborative action to protect democratic institutions.
Under his leadership, the PDP will work with political parties through IPAC. Collaboration will extend to civil society organizations and international partners. The party also plans to engage the media as democracy’s safeguard.
“Decisions on specific alliances will be made when we reach that stage,” Turaki concluded. The PDP’s approach remains flexible yet principle-driven. National interest will guide all coalition considerations.
