Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Jude Ezenwafor has pledged cooperation with Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo following the state election. Ezenwafor emphasized prioritizing Anambra’s development during a Monday appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
Existing Relationship with Soludo
Ezenwafor revealed his longstanding relationship with the governor. “I can assist him. I’ve done so before as his friend,” he stated. “I initially convinced Soludo to join Anambra politics as Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Obiano.” The PDP candidate acknowledged Soludo’s achievements while noting that “no leader is perfect.”
Security and Governance Advice
Despite security concerns in Anambra, Ezenwafor praised Soludo’s proactive approach. “The governor’s security team is competent,” he remarked. “Better equipment would enhance their effectiveness against insecurity.” He urged inclusive governance, advising Soludo to “run an administration that unites Anambra for safety and prosperity.”
Addressing Election Allegations
Ezenwafor dismissed vote-buying claims as exaggerated. “Multiple parties engaged in this practice, but I didn’t participate,” he asserted. The candidate plans legal action questioning whether vote-buying constitutes rigging. He also refuted being a “placeholder candidate,” citing his ₦80 million investment in the PDP ticket. “My Organic Millionaires Club guaranteed 10 votes each from 100 members,” he revealed.
Assassination Attempt Revelation
The politician disclosed an assassination attempt during his campaign. “I was hospitalized for three months after being shot,” Ezenwafor stated. He attributed the attack to opponents who “messed up” his electoral prospects despite initial strong support. Regarding Soludo’s victory, Ezenwafor concluded: “Anambra has spoken. We’ll allow the governor to complete his term.”
