NCOC Chairman and Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced the timeline on Thursday. He confirmed October 27 as the final deadline for submitting Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
“Screening for all national offices will occur at the NCOC Secretariat Conference Hall in Abuja,” Fintiri stated. The process begins at 2 pm, with appeals scheduled for October 30.
The announcement comes amid deepening internal conflicts within the PDP. Supporters of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike express dissatisfaction with Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum. Disputes involve party control in the South-South and zoning arrangements.
Legal battles have emerged, with Imo and Abia State chairmen filing suit against the NWC. They allege constitutional violations, with a ruling expected by October 30.
Further complicating matters, National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu denied signing the convention notification to INEC. He called for security agency investigations into alleged forgery.
The PDP leadership dismissed Anyanwu’s claims. Observers fear these disputes could disrupt convention preparations.
