Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN) emerged as National Chairman from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention in Ibadan. He has now announced a significant development.
His faction plans to hold its inaugural National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. This will take place on Tuesday at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
Turaki made this declaration while speaking to journalists. He spoke shortly after submitting a petition at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Garki.
The petition targets Samuel Anyanwu, the embattled factional National Secretary of the PDP. It also includes other individuals whom Turaki labeled as “saboteurs.”
Turaki’s Resolve and Police Notification
He stressed that nothing would prevent his faction from holding their meeting at Wadata Plaza. Turaki confirmed informing the Commissioner of Police about the upcoming meeting.
This was done to ensure the security of all attendees. “We came here to interface with the Commissioner of Police,” Turaki explained.
“This was regarding our inaugural NWC meeting,” he added. Governors, National Assembly members, and founding fathers have all been invited.
Clash With Rival Faction
Turaki’s announcement follows a conflicting statement from another camp. The PDP faction aligned with Nyesom Wike also declared plans for meetings.
They intend to hold their Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings. Both are scheduled for the same day and venue.
The venue for Wike’s faction meetings is also the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. Anyanwu emphasized the importance of attendance for their gathering.
He noted that “crucial matters will be discussed and addressed.”
Deepening PDP Crisis
This latest development highlights a deepening crisis within the PDP. Nigerians are closely watching how this leadership drama will ultimately unfold.
