The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has reaffirmed the party’s core commitments. He seeks to restore internal democracy. He also aims to return power directly to the people. Turaki declared the PDP is now ready to reclaim crucial states across the South-West.
Speaking at the PDP state secretariat, Turaki addressed party members. His remarks followed a visit with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He assured supporters of the PDP’s strong momentum. The party is targeting electoral victories in the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states.
PDP’s Ambitious South-West Reclaim Strategy
Turaki spoke to a large gathering of party faithful. He stated the PDP is focused on rebuilding its dominance. The party aims to re-establish its strong presence in the region.
“Let me assure all our members and the good people of the South-West,” he declared. “We will win Ekiti. We will win Osun. Our plans do not stop there. By the special grace of God and our people’s unwavering support, we will take over Ogun State.”

Invaluable Counsel from Obasanjo
The PDP Chairman expressed deep appreciation. He thanked former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He described Obasanjo’s counsel as “invaluable.” This was shared during their meeting earlier in the day.
Turaki explained that the interaction was highly beneficial. It further energized the party’s leadership. It also sharpened their strategic focus. This preparation is vital ahead of the upcoming elections.
PDP’s Vision: Good Governance and Economic Revitalisation
According to Turaki, the party’s vision for the South-West is clear. It centers on good governance. It also emphasizes economic revitalisation. Additionally, better service delivery is a key goal. He noted that these aspects have been lacking under the current administration.
“Nigerians are tired of the current trajectory,” he stated firmly. “They are ready to return to the PDP.”
Turaki further reiterated the party’s determination. They will ensure internal democracy and transparency are fully restored. “Our commitment is to make the PDP a credible and formidable alternative,” he concluded. “Nigerians can trust us again.”
