The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has reaffirmed the party’s dedication. He emphasized restoring internal democracy and returning power to the people. Turaki also declared the PDP’s readiness to reclaim key South-West states.
Turaki spoke at the PDP state secretariat. This followed his visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He assured party members and supporters of the PDP’s strong momentum. The party eyes electoral victories in the 2026 governorship elections. This includes Ekiti and Osun states.
PDP’s South-West Strategy and Ambition
Addressing a crowd of party faithful, Turaki stated their focus. The party aims to rebuild its dominance across the South-West region.
“I assure all our members and the good people of the South-West,” Turaki declared. “We will win Ekiti, and we will win Osun. We are not stopping there. With God’s grace and our people’s unwavering support, we will take over Ogun State.”
Obasanjo’s Counsel and Party’s Vision
The PDP Chairman thanked former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He described Obasanjo’s advice as “invaluable counsel.” This appreciation came after their earlier meeting.
Turaki noted that the interaction energized the party’s leadership. It also sharpened their strategic focus. This is crucial for upcoming elections.
Turaki outlined the party’s vision for the South-West. It includes good governance, economic revitalization, and improved service delivery. He stated these elements are currently lacking under the present administration.
“Nigerians are tired of the current trajectory,” he asserted. “They are ready to return to the PDP.”
Turaki also reiterated the party’s firm determination. They aim to fully restore internal democracy and transparency.
“Our commitment,” he concluded, “is to make the PDP a credible and formidable alternative. Nigerians can trust us again.”
