The Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has firmly rejected forgery allegations made by National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu. BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara described the claims as “false, baseless, and misleading” in a Thursday statement from Abuja.
Wabara revealed the BoT initially avoided public comment on what it deemed internal administrative matters. The seriousness of the allegations compelled a response to prevent misinformation among party members and the public.
“The INEC notification letter was jointly signed by National Chairman Umar Damagum and Senator Anyanwu on August 25,” Wabara stated. This occurred during the PDP’s 102nd National Executive Committee meeting. Critical party organs witnessed the signing process.
Wabara noted Anyanwu’s subsequent inauguration as Secretary of the Contact and Mobilisation Sub-Committee. In this role, he co-signed official communications with Sub-Committee Chairman Senator Douye Diri.
The BoT chairman emphasized Anyanwu’s active post-meeting involvement undermines his forgery claims. No evidence supports allegations of signature manipulation according to their investigation.
Wabara urged party members to disregard the allegations as distractions from PDP’s repositioning efforts. He called for unity ahead of the 2025 National Convention and future elections.
“The Board reaffirms confidence in the party’s current leadership,” Wabara declared. He emphasized upholding PDP’s longstanding values of transparency and collective responsibility.
Party insiders dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. They linked them to ongoing internal disagreements within Nigeria’s main opposition party.
