Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle recently shared his thoughts on his ex-wife, Ireti Doyle. He stated he prefers to remain silent rather than speak negatively about her.
Doyle made these remarks during a recent appearance on TVC’s ‘Wake Up Nigeria’. He was specifically asked to discuss his relationship with Ireti.
The esteemed movie star highlighted that his personal “anointing” prevents him from criticizing anyone. This applies to both the living and the dead, he clarified.
“If I have nothing kind to say about a person, I choose silence,” Doyle explained. “My anointing does not permit me to speak ill of anyone. This is true for all people, living or deceased.”
He continued, expressing satisfaction with Ireti’s use of his family name. “I am pleased that the Doyle name has helped open doors for her. She has not disgraced the name in any way.”
“Ireti is performing exceptionally well in the industry. I am proud of her achievements. I hope her success continues.”
Past Comments on Surname Use
It is worth recalling Doyle’s previous statements from June. At that time, he alleged that Ireti continued to use his surname for career relevance in Nollywood.
“She cannot define me,” he asserted then. “My professional body of work is too extensive. It stands independently of anyone else.”
He further questioned the popularity associated with the ‘Doyle’ name. “Why is Doyle well-known? Why did this individual revert to using ‘Doyle’ after our separation? Who truly made whom famous?”
“The name existed long before that person’s emergence. I am comfortable with this situation. It poses no problem for me.”
