Federal lawmaker, Senator AbdulFatai Buhari, has declared his ambition. He aims to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
Senator Buhari currently serves as a federal lawmaker. He represents the Oyo North Senatorial District. He also chairs the Senate Committee on Land Transport.
The three-term lawmaker will seek the ticket. He plans to run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made this declaration in Ibadan. Addressing journalists, Buhari stated his decision. He will not seek a fourth term in the Senate.
He urged residents to prioritize competence. Proven records and delivery capacity must come first. These are more important than zoning or sectional sentiments, he stressed.
“I am no longer interested in the Senate seat,” Buhari stated. “I want to take a shot at the governorship.”
He added, “I am not desperate. I leave it to God. I am looking unto God to do it for me.”
“Oyo State people should look beyond a candidate’s origin,” Buhari urged. “They must focus on performance, competence, and experience.”
He emphasized, “The ability to take our state to greater heights is crucial.”
