The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly dismissed allegations that Governor Ademola Adeleke criticized President Bola Tinubu during the South-West Summit in Akure.
In a statement by Media Director Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, the PDP labeled the accusation as a malicious fabrication by APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi. Bamiji emphasized that neither Governor Adeleke nor his representatives made any disparaging remarks about President Tinubu at the event.
The party expressed disappointment that Olabisi would spread falsehoods against the governor despite his longstanding relationship with the Adeleke family. PDP condemned what it described as a deliberate distortion of Adeleke’s speech about Osun’s governance experiences.
“Governor Adeleke’s presentation at Akure focused solely on Osun’s intergovernmental relations,” the statement clarified. “He detailed both positive outcomes and administrative challenges, particularly regarding local government elections and fund management. At no point did he attack President Tinubu.”
The PDP emphasized that the summit theme centered on federal-state relations. Adeleke’s address reportedly advocated for constitutional compliance and fair treatment of Osun State without political bias. The party denounced Olabisi’s actions as politically motivated falsehood.
“Governor Adeleke maintains profound respect for President Tinubu both as Nigeria’s leader and as an elder Yoruba statesman,” the statement noted. “His presentation reflected this respect while addressing governance issues affecting Osun.”
The PDP urged the public to disregard what it termed “baseless propaganda” and reaffirmed Adeleke’s commitment to respectful discourse. The party concluded that cultural values and governmental protocols prevent any disrespect toward the presidency from the governor.
